CREATING AN INTERESTING PAINTING......The creative process of an artist.

First Rendition of a painting

Second Rendition
Notice I took out the tree on the left and added the wild flowers, I am definitely liking it better.

I thought I would walk you through the thought process of creating a painting.

I began with the creative feel of bright blues and oranges, a lake and the feeling of fall.

Two trees with blue trunks, stood guard over a lake. But soon the image became monotonous. Though I liked the colors the trees felt to repetitive and not spontaneous.

In the second rendition I took out the tree on the left and added some big spontaneous wildflowers, and lightened up the hills in the background.  The lake was feeling more like a river, but it still felt contrived and over worked for my liking.   I was stuck.....all though there were many LIKES from my facebook audience....... I was troubled by the whole piece.

Final rendition
RIVER BANK
30" X 30"
I slept on it.... waking up in the middle of the night with the answer.   If it was going to be a river, It would be a Western River the "Colorado.  No gently rolling hills but rugged Mesas that were spontaneously worked into the painting with a pallet knife.  I keep a hint of the under painting so some of the green and orange showed through.  I took out the last remaining tree and added a fifth wildflower.  Odd number objects always make a better composition.  I added more prominent red grasses. The lower boarder I change to a purple instead of the red.

Now the painting feels more spontaneous, although it didn't happen spontaneous.  It has a much better composition and the color pallet is vivid and exciting.   I like it!!!!!  It will become one of my new paintings in my 2014 Floral Collection.

Three full days of work......... and I am satisfied.

REACHING....... finding Abundance and Joy.

REACHING
36" X 36"
ACRYLIC ON CANVAS
WAITING FOR IT'S NEW HOME
http://www.pameladunmirefineart.com
As an artist I am constantly reinventing myself with each painting, creating something anew......Experimenting with a new color or stroke or technique.   Always Reaching and finding a new way to express myself.

As I grow in my own life and find the joy and abundance that I envision, my art becomes more abundant and joyful.  I have transformed my color pallet, and expressive voice.

I bumped into a gallery owner that I showed with five years ago.  He could not believe how much my paintings have changed.  He always felt I was dark and moody very soulful and spiritual in my paintings.  Now my joy and abundance of life is just spilling out of my pallet.

Why such a change?  Meditation, visualization, conquering cancer, positive affirmations, all these empowering daily habits have made me more creative.  I have found my WHY in life.  I have discovered why I paint.  I always thought I knew, after all it is what an artist does.  But I have discovered that I need to share the joy that life can bring to everyone.

I have discovered that everyday must be filled with art, my own and others.

I am my happiest when I am at the canvas, or teaching others to express their own Whys.

One on ones in my studio are pure Magic........  Teacher to student....... expressing the moment.

KEEP REACHING.......

MICRO PAINTINGS.......a new way to market.

HIGH TIDE
8" X 10"
ACRYLIC ON GALLERY WRAP CANVAS
http://www.pameladunmirefineart.com
I just returned from a week long trip to the Central Coast of California.  One of my goals was to spend some time in reflection and vision.  Creating new ideas and creative energy.  One of the best ways I find to do this is to be by the sea.  I came back refreshed and ready to try new things.

One of the conundrums that an artist faces is how to price their work so that many people can enjoy their art.  So I decided to create a Micro series of very small painting 8" x 10" and smaller in a price range for beginning collectors, $100.00 or less.

Then I created a way to market and sell these lovelies.  I have picked two days per week to highlight these offerings on Facebook, Twitter, and Pintrest.  Saturday will continue to be my SATURDAY SPECIAL OFFERING, where I sell micro paintings and prints at a reduced rate.  A new offering will be published on Thursdays which I am calling THROW OUT A PRICE THURSDAY.  This will be an opportunity for my peeps on Facebook and Twitter to make me an offer and tell me why they value a certain painting at the price they are offering.

I believe both of these promotions will give the art lover an opening into art buying by removing the price barrier.  Make impulse buying fun and worth while, and leverage my and the collectors generousity.

A win win for all involved..........
