AUTUMN 48"T X 36"W |
When June approaches I cower, hoping I don't have to go outside except to get the mail. I absolutely tell my kids who live in the valley that if they want to see their mother they have to come up to the mountains where it is at least 90 degrees and not 110.
I stay in my studio, under a fan, in the air conditioning and pray that the next three months will magically disappear.
So when September rolls around...... it is joyous, that first crisp hint of fall. I WANT TO GET OUTSIDE...... The colors are marvelous with yellow Aspens, and red Liquid Ambers, against the Ponderosa Pines of the forest. The yellow, white, red, and purple wildflowers are still blooming to make the pallet complete. It is hiking season and time to get a little color on my pale summer skin.
The other morning the hubby and I ventured deep into the Prescott National Forest and took a trail not plotted on any of the maps.......Were we crazy? Yes...... Did we see spectacular sights? Yes....... Did our thighs ache? You Betcha.
No wonder that when I returned from my morning hike and headed for my studio the first paints I choose were a pallet of fall inspired colors. I even got out some of my metallic to mimic the sun shinning on the golden wildflowers tucked between the rocks and tree roots.
I think my painting turned out just the way I hoped it would. Doesn't it make you want to take that path less traveled to experience that perfect view. It was definitely worth the hike.
