PREPARING FOR THE SHOW.... INSIDE THE STUDIO

The end of the year is fast approaching and I have one more thing to do before the years end.  Prepare to hang my next and newest show at A Small Art Gallery,  starting the beginning of January 2014.

All through the holiday season I have been putting together a whimsical collection of Balloon Art, my version of my life story.  The ups and downs, of my life journey depicted with balloons.  It started out innocently enough......... a request to be in a show.  Needing new work, and having just come back from the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta; I had visions of balloons swirling in my head.

At first I envisioned abstraction so you couldn't recognize the balloon, only a pattern...... As the journey progressed I realized how marvelous and full of color a balloon could be.  Than I realized what a great mechanism to tell a story.  I added words to some of the paintings, I added figures to other paintings and the story emerged.

Now I have one last painting to complete and the tale will be told.

Steve Straussner and Karen Zelonka will be sharing the walls with me, along with Tony Reynold's wonderful sculpture. I can't wait till you see the show.

DUNMIRE IS LAUNCHING A NEW COLLECTION

MASS ASCENSION

Pamela Dunmire  contemporary artist is well known for her vibrant and textural Acrylic Abstracts.

Now Pamela has ventured into whimsical story telling through her paintings.  After returning from the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, colors and patterns swirled in her subconscious until she spilled them on canvas.  She has produced a fun collection of balloon art that is debuting at A Small Art Gallery starting January 1, 2014.

Pamela tells the story of excitement, soaring, ascension, and rough landings.  She tells you to “Just Hang On” when life soars out of control.  She gives you a bird’s eye view when you are “Above The Crowd”.  She gives you a clear vision of how colorful life can be if you just let go and soar.

Working nearly 20 years as a social worker with strenuous restrictions and heart rendering cases in Child Protective Services, the gravitational pull to escape the confines of broken spirits consistently delivered Pamela into the world of fine art.

Painting became her balance during her years as a social worker saving her from complete burnout.  It was the Yin to her Yang.  She used art to take those feelings of sorrow and distress and turn them into something beautiful.

Pamela knows the ‘Ups’ and ‘Downs’ of life in her own personal experiences having known the anguish of living with an alcoholic, divorce and most recently successfully battling a bout with cancer.  It is no wonder she picked the analogy of Hot Air Balloons to share the joy of successfully meeting the challenges of life.

Much of Pamela’s art reflects the soaring of the soul. “I have always been a person who feels that each and everyone has inner strength that can be tapped during times of turmoil and crisis.”
A truly contemporary artist, her images explore how art and life reflect each other, and serve as a creation to celebrate and enhance ones life.

Pamela will be taking her New Collection of Hot Air Balloons to the 2014 Licensing Expo at Mandalay Bay,  Las Vegas.  The Expo is running from June 17th-19th.  See all of her designs and collection in the Art & Design Section, Booth G24.

Design Collections for the 2014 Licensing Expo.

Manufactures want an artist who has a portfolio of designs.
They want these designs to be built around  collections.
You see manufacturers are not very creative.......They need their vision to come from the artist.  They want to walk by a booth and be WOWED!

This is exactly what they will find when they come to:
DUNMIRE ESNEAULT CONTEMPORARY DESIGNS in Art & Design Booth G24.

FUNKY CACTUS is one of the collections that will be presented.  A bit of whimsy in a Southwest Style.  Manufactures just jump at the chance to have these prickly characters on their home goods.

VIBRANT FLORAL is a collection of flowers never before seen.  In beautiful colors, and eye popping designs. The manufactures want these for all their fabric needs, duvets, table clothes, purses, drapes.

HOT AIR BALLOONS is a collection of fun and color popping designs that soar with personality. The manufactures are going to new heights to have these in their upcoming collections.

SOUTHWEST LANDSCAPES is a collection of images that bring to mind visions of Native American culture, and vast lands to explore.  The manufactures love the great adventure and romance of the west that these will rustle up as they put them on their fashion accessories.

GEOMETRIC PATTERNS is a collection of contemporary designs for the hip, urban crowd.  Manufactures love the bold patterns and are raving about the chance to make them into retro fabrics, for  eye popping upholstery fabric, dinnerware collections, and linens.

HOLIDAYS is a collection of beautiful religious and secular designs for Christmas, and Easter. The manufactures of greeting cards especially love these beautiful images that evoke the feelings and memories of the season.

I am feeling the excitement and buzz that these collections are producing.  Can't wait for the 2014 Licensing Expo.

2014 LICENSING EXPO... HERE I COME.

We will be talking Licensing from now til June........ That's because I have taken the big step to License my designs and this is my story.

Two years ago a seed was planted in my life vision..... I was tired of just being a fine artist, and wanted to share my designs with the world, via licensing.  An artist friend of mine, Mary Esneault had the same vision.  So we joined forces to help each other and encourage each other.

Flash back to June 2013, Mary and I decided we needed to go to the largest Licensing Expo in the world.  So we packed out bags and headed to Las Vegas to walk the show floor.

15,000 people showed up!!!!  I decided that this is where I needed to be.  We attended LIMA which is the Licensing University that runs during the Expo.  It didn't frighten us off.

While there we enjoyed the keynote speaker, Gwyneth Paltrow.
SOME DAY I WILL BE STANDING HERE!!!!!
Mary and I had a wonderful time and the vision grew and grew...........

So I started, my design work began to change...... geared more for the commercial sector, yes.... I was crossing the line from Fine Art to Commercial Art.

Everything I created for the shows I was exhibiting in were subtly being designed for the market place, fabric design, book covers, stationary.  My collections were beginning to become cohesive.

In October I took the plunge and registered as an exhibitor at the 2014 Licensing Expo.  Mary did the same and we are now DUNMIRE ESNEAULT CONTEMPORARY DESIGNS  You will see us in the Design & Art section G24.

I will share with you my journey, my challenges and expectations as I prepare for my Grand Debut. Keep watch, I plan on making a huge splash into these deep waters and you will be coming along for the ride.

BALLOONS AND MORE BALLOONS........

How many balloons can a person paint?

Well, many if you are doing a exhibition all about balloons.

It started like this......... In October I went to the 2013 Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  It was awesome. The colors were incredible and the shapes were unique, and excitement was in the air, along with a lot of balloons.

I took tons of pictures... no I mean it..... tons....... What do you do with tons of pictures?  Well paint them of course.

FLASH FORWARD..... I was asked to be in a show in January at A SMALL ART GALLERY in Prescott.
Tony: "Can you come up with about 10 paintings?"
   Me:  "Sure".
What was on my mind........BALLOONS.
Me:  "I will do a perspective on the Balloon Fiesta."
    Tony:  "Sounds Great!!"

So here I am painting balloons and more balloons.  Only six more paintings to goooooo.

The Greatest Show on Earth........

CIRCUS ACT  24" X 24"
In March some dear friends invited the hubby and I to visit them in Florida.  Why not, the weather here in the Mountains was snowy and cold.......Florida was beautiful and sunny.... beach weather.

NOT.... the weather in Florida was cool and rainy...... so an excursion to Sarasota and the Ringling Brothers Museum was in order.

When I was a kid  I remember mom and dad taking me to the circus.  The spectacle was immense, awesome, death defying....and kinda creepy!!!!  I didn't always like clowns, and the gaudiness of the whole scene......but there was something very fascinating about the three rings that lay in front of me.

Visiting the museum brought back the stir of emotions, I could almost hear the hawkers selling tickets on the midway.  I got to see the Calliope close up and the cannon that shot those dare devils into the air. The kid in me emerged from those far away depths and my joy exploded.

We wandered around the grounds and saw Ringlings house on the bay, more gaudiness and in your face colors.  To my surprise an outstanding art museum, John Ringling was an avid art collector.

The sun finally did emerge a few days into the trip but I thanked it for holding off long enough for us to   visit the circus.  Those images have swirled in my minds eye for several months and in July they bubbled to the surface and onto my canvas.

Sometimes inspriration, comes from deep within, from an experience that hides in the depths of my being.  This little spark of joy became one of my favorite paintings.  Enjoy and remember.

Autumn my favorite time of year !

AUTUMN  48"T  X  36"W
Autumn has always been my favorite time of year...... I am not one of those beach beauties, who has to have the sun all the time.  In fact I avoid summer if I can.

When June approaches I cower, hoping I don't have to go outside except to get the mail.  I absolutely tell my kids who live in the valley that if they want to see their mother they have to come up to the mountains where it is at least 90 degrees and not 110.

I stay in my studio, under a fan, in the air conditioning and pray that the next three months will magically disappear.

So when September rolls around...... it is joyous, that first crisp hint of fall.  I WANT TO GET OUTSIDE......  The colors are marvelous with yellow Aspens, and red Liquid Ambers, against the Ponderosa Pines of the forest.  The yellow, white, red, and purple wildflowers are still blooming to make the pallet complete.  It is hiking season and time to get a little color on my pale summer skin.

The other morning the hubby and I ventured deep into the Prescott National Forest and took a trail not plotted on any of the maps.......Were we crazy?  Yes......   Did we see spectacular sights?  Yes....... Did our thighs ache?   You Betcha.

No wonder that when I returned from my morning hike and headed for my studio the first paints I choose were a pallet of fall inspired colors.   I even got out some of my metallic to mimic the sun shinning on the golden wildflowers tucked between the rocks and tree roots.

I think my painting turned out just the way I hoped it would.  Doesn't it make you want to take that path less traveled to experience that perfect view.  It was definitely worth the hike.

Prickly Pears....aka ...debut of a value painting

PRICKLY PEAR
Now that the weather is getting cooler in the Mountains of Prescott, I have been hiking in the woods three days a week, awesome!!!!!! The wildflowers are in full bloom and the prickly pear are ripe and ready to pick.  It is a little slice of heaven living here and I feel so blessed, I wish you could all share this wonderful place with me.

Got any recipes for Prickly Pear Jelly?  I am so wanting to try to make some.

This little gem is only 12" x 8" and is one of my value pieces for those of you who have been wanting to collect an original but can't afford my large pieces.  These 12" x 8" paintings on gallery wrap canvas will be selling for $100.00  I am going to debut them at the Studio Tour starting October 4, and running through the 6th.  10-4 each day.

I can't wait to see all my peeps and new friends that will be stopping by during the 6th Annual Prescott Area Studio Tour.  We always have great fun and I meet the most interesting people aka YOU.

Two of my favorite artists will also be showing at my Two Oaks Studio, my dear friend and internationally known glass jewelry worker, Patricia Tyser Carberry and new comer and wonderful potter Barbara Darr.

You won't want to miss this fun weekend.....

Friendship.....a journey together.

YOU AND ME   24"T X 20"W
Sometimes I feel so isolated in my studio, alone with my painting and my thoughts.  It's OK most of the time......I like the silence of my own thoughts or the soft ambient music in the background.  I love the creative process.  But at times a gal needs the company of friends.

I think every artist runs the risk of isolation........as for me I am a social person, and can get fairly depressed if I don't have that human contact.  That is one reason I became involved with my local art guild and my faith congregation.  I don't have a BEST friend, but I have many friends who I consider close friends and whom I LOVE.

I don't know about you but I gather tons of energy from all my peeps.  It's all of you who read my blog, and comment on my words that feed me with creative energy, and warm feelings.  It makes Life a wonderful thing........  That's why I started Love Your Life Designs, and this new blog.  Here is where I will share my feelings, love, sorrows and joys of life.  You will be the first to see new works that stem from my Love of Life.  I hope in the process I will share my energy with all of you, and you will have a wonderful day....... a feeling of being uplifted, of being loved and cared for.

It's all about YOU AND ME.......

Friendship, such a wonderful thing.  Together we can soar great heights, conquer all fears and travel together along this road of life.  That's where we are going in this new blog.... a journey together.

YARNELL HILL FIRE

THE FALLEN RISE

It has been a long time since I produced a blog since my old blog "AS I SEE IT.... AN ARTIST'S PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE" was compromised by a bunch of scamers.  So I thought this was a wonderful time to change my perspective  and begin "LOVE YOUR LIFE DESIGNS".

Many of you have probably heard about the horrible tradgedy that happened to our small town of Prescott, AZ when we lost our beloved 19 HOT SHOTS during the Yarnell Hill Fire this summer.  This is my tribute to them.  I was so moved by the tradgedy and the pursuing memorials that I had to create my own rememberance.  One of my close friends lost her brother-in-law to that tradgedy.

Since then many millions of dollars of donations have come in to help aide the families of the Hot Shots.  But what about the people of Yarnell, the small little mountain town that lost half of all their homes and business. They need the help now.  The United Presbyterian Church and the Preysbytery of the Grand Canyon have started a Yarnell Fire Fund.  This fund goes in after everyone else leaves and makes a real difference.  They will be rebuilding Yarnell.  They have just broken ground on the first home.  They are truely making a difference in the lives of the people of Yarnell.

I decided to help the cause by offering 10" x 10" signed fine art prints of the above painting for only $45.00, with all proceeds going to the YARNELL FIRE FUND.  If you are interested just comment below with an e-mail and I will contact you about the payment.  I will ship anywhere in the US for a small S&H of $7.00 and world wide for S&H of $10.00.

I hope to share with you the excitment of my new direction, Love Your Life Designs, and the joyous and whimsical new paintings that I am creating.

Just Love Your Life.........Pam
